American Bible Society

From 1821 until 1828 he was president of the American Bible Society.

He took an active part in the founding of the American Bible Society in 1816, of which he became the first president.

The American Bible Society up to 1868, however, distributed a million copies of scriptural and religious works among the freedmen.

But it, too, was completed and published in 1879, by the American Bible Society.

After his second return he proposed the organization of the American Bible Society, which was accomplished in 1816.
