Born in Iráklion, Crete to a Lesvos family, Elytis met Andreas Empeirikos a month later, he first presented surrealism in the Greek works, Empeirikos was Elytis' friend for 25 years. One month after other than Fairy tailes by Seferis, Ypsikampinos (by Empeirikos) was sold in stores with surrealistic poems.
