a river in S Peru, rising in the Andes and flowing northwest into the Urubamba River. Length: about 885 km (550 miles)

It was a memorable incident in my travelling experiences, the crossing of this great swinging bridge of the Apurimac.

They trudged around and then suddenly found themselves at the bank of the roaring Apurimac River.

“I believe we are getting close to Pasaje now,” announced the old man, as he led the way around the winding Apurimac River.

Instead of being the Apurimac Basin, what we saw was another unexplored region which drained into the Urubamba!

Some, like the Apurimac and the Maraon, extend well into the interior of the Cordillera.
