Az"a*role\, n. [F. azerole, the name of the fruit, fr. Ar. az-zo'r?r: cf. It. azzeruolo, Sp. acerolo.] (Bot.) The Neapolitan medlar (Crat[ae]gus azarolus), a shrub of southern Europe; also, its fruit.
