First recorded in 1870–75; from Hindi: literally, “domain of the Bundela” (a clan in the Rajput)

The destructive kans grass has proved as great a pest here as elsewhere in Bundelkhand.

They say that their original home was the Tīkamgarh State in Bundelkhand.

Lastly the Saonrs of Bundelkhand have the following tradition.

It is believed to have been the capital of the ancient kingdom of Jijhoti, corresponding with modern Bundelkhand.

Its distribution is nearly the same as that of the Gahois, and it is probably also a Bundelkhand group.
