n.  An aromatic evergreen tree (Umbellularia californica) native to California and southern Oregon and having clusters of small yellowish-green flowers, olivelike yellowish-green to purple fruits, and light brown wood valued for use in fine woodwork. Also called California bay, Oregon myrtle.
