Cambay

The interval of peace was employed in repressing the invasions of the pirates who were infesting the Gulfs of Cambay and Cutch.

Similarly in 1611 the British defeated them off Cambay and in 1615 won a great victory at Swally.

A good deal of bloodstone comes from India, where it occurs in the Deccan traps, and is cut and polished at Cambay.

Cambay is situated on the sea at the head of the gulf of the same name, and is a handsome city.

Yet if I had not actually seen it, I could not have believed that Cambay had so great a trade.
