Mount Demavend a volcanic peak in N Iran, in the Elburz Mountains. Height: 5671 m (18 606 ft)

The smoke rising out of the crater of Demavend is the breath of Zohak chained in the depths of the mountain.

Its counsel is sought for, but it is seldom seen, and its abode is believed to be on the mountain peak of Demavend.

The traditional scene of the destruction was the mountain of Demavend, the highest peak of the Elburz range south of the Caspian.

Mazenderan is not less celebrated in Persian romance than the region at the foot of Demavend.
