The skull is characterized by the large sub-orbital fossæ which occupy nearly the whole cheek.

The temporal fossæ becomes deeper, the jaw-bones more massive, the eyes lie in deep approximated sockets.

The temporal fossæ also have a postero-superior angular enlargement not seen in the latter.

In other cases the line of the primary fracture is longitudinal, passing through the spine and involving both fossæ.

Hæmorrhage is liable to occur when exposed portions of the tumour ulcerate—for example in the nasal fossæ.
