An African trypanosomiasis characterized by erythematous patches and local edemas, cramps, tremors, and paresthesia, enlargement of the lymph glands, spleen, and liver, emaciation, and, in later stages, lethargy, coma, and death. Also called chronic sleeping sickness, chronic trypanosomiasis.
