Gela

There is a curious story related as to his death, which took place at Gela in 456 B.C.

The Gela is at times a very violent stream, as the following description of Ovid bears witness.

Small contingents also arrived, in answer to the call of Gylippus, from Gela and Selinus.

He is to be distinguished from an older Apollodorus of Gela (342-290), also a writer of comedy, a contemporary of Menander.
