hengyang

city, south-central Hunan sheng (province), southeastern China. It is situated on the west bank of the Xiang River, just south of the confluence of the Xiang with two of its main tributaries, the Lei and the Zheng rivers, and some 110 miles (180 km) south of Changsha, the provincial capital. The city's name derives from its location south of the Mount Heng massif.
