Jiujiang
river port and city, northern Jiangxi sheng (province), southeastern China. It lies along the Yangtze River (Chang Jiang) to the west of its junction with Lake Poyang and the tributary system of the Gan River. Jiujiang is an important river port, although it does not have a good natural harbour. It is an outlet for trade from Jiangxi and is connected with the rest of the province both by waterways and by a railroad to Nanchang built in 1915.
