Jungfrau

Two massive forms, two giants on the sides of the horizon, the Jungfrau and the Finsteraarhorn.

It was a very bright day, and the sun had been shining with a ravishing clearness on the snow-white breast of the Jungfrau.

He made several Alpine tours, and once (in 1860) he accompanied me in an ascent of the Jungfrau with a couple of guides.

People tried for more than a thousand years to get to the top of the Jungfrau before they could succeed.

The view of the Jungfrau was of course more commanding here than it was down at the inn.
