The Countess gave up the day and the diadem, returned to her palace, and began the study of La Vallière again.

Louise de la Vallière became one of the best women in the world; but there are some other things that might be said of her.

It was the first expression of "La Vallière" since she had come timidly to court.

It was suppressed, and only one copy escaped destruction, which was bought in 1784 by the Duc de La Vallière for 120 livres.

There was at that time in the court a young lady, one of Henrietta's maids of honor, Mademoiselle de la Vallière.
