Lorenzetti

This painter was the elder brother of Ambrogio Lorenzetti , and first appears as an artist in 1305.

Ambrogio, the younger brother of Pietro Lorenzetti (see 1113), was the greatest of the early Sienese painters.

In 1337 they appointed Ambrogio Lorenzetti to decorate their meeting-place with allegorical frescoes.

Beyond is the chapel of the confraternity, with remains of frescoes by some pupil of Ambrogio Lorenzetti.

Raphael is buried beneath the base of the statue called la Madonna del Sasso, sculptured by Lorenzetti.
