Maderno

Many other architects were often employed upon it; Maderno finished the front and the two towers.

This historical monument was demolished by Carlo Maderno in the night of October 20, 1610.

Unfortunately, at the beginning of the seventeenth century, Maderno was employed to lengthen the nave.

It was finally rebuilt on the designs of Carlo Maderno, in 1632.

The high altar, designed by Carlo Maderno, has an ancient (miracle-working) Madonna.
