Classical Mythology. a daughter of King Cinyras of Cyprus who had incestuous relations with her father and was changed into a myrrh tree by the gods. Their child, Adonis, was born from the split trunk of the tree.

On the right is a woman fleeing from a man who pursues her, sword in hand; these represent Myrrha and her father Cinyras.

He was the son of Myrrha, whose legend is the subject of several small groups.

The last words of Myrrha on the funereal pyre are in good keeping with the grand conception of her character.

I have taken the liberty of substituting Myrrha for this somewhat unmanageable word.

Myrrha loved her father, but not as a daughter ought; and she now lies hid, overwhelmed by the bark 750 that grew over her.
