a tectonic division of the earth's crust, coincident with the suboceanic Peru Basin, and bounded on the north by the Cocos Plate, separated from the South American Plate by the Peru-Chile Trench, from the Pacific Plate by the East Pacific Rise, and from the Antarctic Plate by the Chile Rise.
