Newton's method

noun Mathematics.
a process for approximating the roots of an equation by replacing the curve representing the equation by its tangent and finding the intersection of the tangent with the x-axis and iterating this process.

Newton's method is always a great word to know.
So is inverse. Does it mean:
a proportion containing terms of which an increase in one results in a decrease in another
pertaining to the mathematical prerequisites for the study of calculus, as algebra, analytical geometry, and trigonometry
