South Temperate Zone

In the south-temperate zone the species are mostly generically distinct, Psammobatis being a typical form, differing from Raja.

The south temperate zone being chiefly water, the westerlies are but little disturbed there by continental effects.

Stretching, as do these plains, across a large portion of the South Temperate Zone, they present great varieties of climate.

In the north temperate zone it is much more marked than in the south temperate zone.

The south temperate zone may properly be called “temperate.”
