The difference here between Insects and the Vertebrata seems very wide; but some of the latter make an approach towards it.

In these animals evolutionists see a link between the Mollusca and the Vertebrata.

This resemblance is of some interest, as bearing on a probable Annelid origin of Vertebrata.

The differences between the types of Mammalia and remaining Vertebrata are, however, not so great as might at first sight appear.
