Accipitres

Ac*cip"i*tres\, n. pl. [L., hawks.] (Zo["o]l.) The order that includes rapacious birds. They have a hooked bill, and sharp, strongly curved talons. There are three families, represented by the vultures, the falcons or hawks, and the owls.
