Al`ma*di"a\, Almadie \Al"ma*die\, n. [F. almadie (cf. Sp. & Pg. almadia), fr. Ar. alma'd[=i]yah a raft, float.] (Naut.) (a) A bark canoe used by the Africans. (b) A boat used at Calicut, in India, about eighty feet long, and six or seven broad.
