Anoplotherium

An`o*plo*the"ri*um\([a^]n`[-o]*pl[-o]*th[=e]"r[i^]*[u^]m), n. [From Gr. 'a`noplos unarmed ('an priv. + 'o`plon an implement, weapon) + qhri`on beast.] (Paleon.) A genus of extinct quadrupeds of the order Ungulata, whose were first found in the gypsum quarries near Paris; characterized by the shortness and feebleness of their canine teeth (whence the name).
