asteroid body as·ter·oid body (ās'tə-roid')
n.

  1. An eosinophilic inclusion body having radiating lines, found in a vacuolated area of cytoplasm of a multinucleated giant cell, especially seen in sarcoidosis but occurring also in other granulomas.

  2. A structure characteristic of sporotrichosis when found in the skin or in secondary lesions of sporotrichosis.
