noun Dressage.
a movement similar to a croupade except that the horse draws in its hind legs so that the iron of the shoes is visible.

Origin:
1720–30; < French ballottade, balotade, equivalent to ballott(er) to move, stir (intransitive), to toss, shake (derivative of ballotte, Old French balote little ball < Italian; see ballot) + -ade -ade1
