Borárel/bor-el,/ Amédée (1867–1936) French bacteriologist. With Albert L. C. Calmette, Borrel developed in 1895 a vaccine for use against bubonic plague. In 1898 hediagnosed sheep pox. He also investigated cancer, cell division in neoplasms, the action of glycogen on tumors, tuberculosis, and bacteriophages.
