Just then the Sunbonnet Babies heard a pleasant voice saying, "Buon giorno!"

They called a merry "Buon giorno" to the little American girls as the carriage rolled past them.

The children run up as you cross the piazza, say "Buon Giorno," and run away smiling out of pure delight.

As I passed amongst them, nearly every one greeted me with a smile and "Buon giorno."
