a scalar for which there exists a nonzero vector such that the scalar times the vector equals the value of the vector under a given linear transformation on a vector space.
2.
a root of the characteristic equation of a given matrix.
Also called characteristic value, eigenvalue, latent root, proper value.

Characteristic root is always a great word to know.
So is common divisor. Does it mean:
a number that is a submultiple of all the numbers of a given set
a system of numerical notation to the base 2, in which each place of a number, expressed as 0 or 1, corresponds to a power of 2
