Two orioles have swung up their hammock to the swaying branch of a chestnut oak.

The only oak bark extract on the market is the American chestnut oak (quercus prinus).

This must not be confused with the chestnut oak, an American tree which also yields a very useful tannin.

The dwarf chinkapin, or scrub chestnut oak, is a shrub rarely more than a dozen 61 feet high and grows on sandy or rocky soil.

The chestnut oak sometimes reaches a height of a hundred feet, but the trunk divides into large limbs a few feet above the ground.
