clasp-knife spasticity

Medical Dictionary

clasp-knife spasticity n.
Rigidity of the extensor muscles of a joint that gives resistance to passive flexion but gives way abruptly to allow easy flexion, resulting from an exaggeration of the stretch reflex. Also called clasp-knife rigidity.
