Coggins, Leroy(b 1932), American veterinary virologist. Coggins held successive positions as professor of veterinary virology at Cornell and North Carolina State Universities. In addition to hisresearch on equine infections anemia, his areas of research included equine influenza and the viruses of variola, hog cholera, bovine virus diarrhea, and African swine fever. He introduced the Cogginstest in 1970.
