The result is a whimsical, sometimes melancholy look at how Cousteau’s obsession with the ocean arose and how his approach to conservation evolved over time.

Later in life, Cousteau became an ardent environmentalist, fighting to protect the oceans from overfishing and pollution.

“I see coral reefs that I used to dive on as a child and are now dead,” Cousteau says.

Carrying the Cousteau name “is a huge responsibility,” she says.
