1. any plant of the genus Ranunculus, esp. one with divided leaves suggestive of a crow's foot; buttercup.
2. any of various other plants with leaves or other parts suggestive of a bird's foot, as certain species of the genus Geranium.
3. caltrop (def. 1).
4. Nautical. an arrangement of several bridlelike ropes rove through a suspended euphroe to support the backbone of an awning at a number of points.
5. Movies, Television. a three-legged device placed under a tripod to keep the camera from slipping.
6. (on an architectural or engineering drawing) a V-shaped mark the apex of which is a reference point.

crow's-foot

–noun, plural -feet.
1. Usually, crow's-feet. any of the tiny wrinkles at the outer corners of the eyes resulting from age or constant squinting.
2. Aeronautics. an arrangement of ropes in which one main rope exerts pull at several points simultaneously through a group of smaller ropes, as in balloon or airship rigging.
3. (in tailoring) a three-pointed embroidered design used as a finish, as at the end of a seam or opening.
4. crowfoot (def. 1).

    1. Any of numerous plants of the genus Ranunculus that have palmately cleft or divided leaves, such as the buttercups.

    2. Any of several other plants having leaves or other parts somewhat resembling a bird's foot.

  2. pl. crow·feet (-fēt') An iron ball with four spikes arranged so that one always points upwards, used to delay the advance of mounted troops and infantry; a caltrop.

  3. pl. crow·feet Nautical A set of small lines passed through holes of a batten or fitting to help support the backbone of an awning.
