Dam·rosch  (dām'rŏsh)  German-born American musician who was the first to conduct Wagnerian opera at New York's Metropolitan Opera House. His son Walter Johannes Damrosch (1862-1950) continued the tradition, introducing Wagner's works throughout the United States. |
