A terminal branch of the common peroneal nerve, passing into the anterior compartment of the leg and supplying the anterior tibial muscle, the long extensor muscle of the big toe, the long extensor muscle of the toes, the third peroneal muscle, the skin of the big toe, and the medial surface of the second toe.
