Desáceámet /des-mA/,Jean (1732–1810), French physician. Descemet's areas of study ranged from treatment of gout and measles to the anatomy of the eye and skin. Around 1759 he published a completedescription of the membrane now known as Descemet's membrane, which had been first described in 1729 by a British ophthalmologist, Benedict Duddell.
