Di*del"phous\, n. [NL. See Didelphia.] (Zo["o]l.) Formerly, any marsupial; but the term is now restricted to an American genus which includes the opossums, of which there are many species. See Opossum. [Written also Didelphis.] See Illustration in Appendix. --Cuvier.
