I seem to suffer from gagging attacks, and sometimes start to dry heave and/or choke and cough Cough Pertussis.

The good news is that your vomiting has stopped. The bad news is that your body hasn't stopped trying to vomit—and now you're panting from the pain of dry heaves. Although you're uncomfortable, there's a good chance that your dry heaves will go away a short time after they've started.

When you puke, and nothing comes out but pain. Dry heaving is most often worse than actual vomiting. It's really quite cathartic. The act of dry heaving is like the act of your body revolting. A small revolution.
