dynamic RAM

  1. A memory chip that stores information as electrical charges in capacitors. Each bit of information is stored by a single capacitor, representing binary 1 with a full charge, and 0 with no charge. Since the charges in the capacitors tends to fade quickly, the value of each bit is dynamically read off at regular intervals, and the charge is refreshed if necessary.
