E`la*id"ic\, a. [Cf. F. ['e]la["i]dique. See Elaine.] Relating to oleic acid, or elaine.

Elaidic acid (Chem.), a fatty acid isomeric with oleic acid, and obtained from it by the action of nitrous acid.
