erector muscle of spine n.
A muscle with origin from the sacrum, ilium, and spines of the lumbar vertebrae, dividing into three columns that insert into the ribs and vertebrae, with nerve supply from the posterior branches of the spinal nerves, and whose action extends the vertebral column.
