Its activities are financially supported and administered by a consortium of 13 European nations-Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. ESO's scientific, technical, and administrative headquarters are in Garching, Germany, near Munich.
