exchange force   (ĭks-chānj')  Pronunciation Key 
A force that results from the continuous interchange of particles between two or more bodies. The exchange of electrons between two atoms or molecules, for example, is an exchange force, as is the exchange of gluons between quarks in the strong nuclear force.
