Fiesole

town and episcopal see of Florence provincia, Tuscany regione, north-central Italy. It is situated on a hill overlooking the Arno and Mugnone valleys just northeast of Florence. A chief city of the Etruscan confederacy, it probably dates from the 9th-8th century BC, but its first record (as Faesulae) is in 283 BC, when it was conquered by the Romans.
