Garbo, Greta definition


A twentieth-century Swedish-born American film actress. Garbo was celebrated for her classic beauty and her portrayals of moody characters.

Note: In the movie Grand Hotel, Garbo made the famous statement, “I want to be alone.” She retired from the movies in the early 1940s and lived as a recluse until her death in 1990.
