Notable buildings include a large Piarist seminary and the 16th-century Church of Santa Maria Magdalena, built in the austere style of Juan de Herrera. In the vicinity, the Hill of Los Angeles, with its Sacred Heart monument (1924), is considered the geographic centre of Spain.
