Gram /'gräm/, Hans Christian Joachim (1853–1938), Danish physician. Gram introduced his method for the differential staining of bacteria in1884. He also devised, in 1922, a method for determining the percentage of fibrin in blood and plasma. Further, he made investigations into the physiology of anemia during pregnancy and thehematoblasts in cases of pernicious anemia.
