Guarnieri, Giuseppe (1856–1918), Italian pathologist. In 1893 Guarnieri reportedhis discovery of certain inclusion bodies found in the specific lesions of smallpox and cowpox. Those bodies, now known as Guarnieri bodies, were thought by him to be the causative organism of thesediseases.
